Finally got the mess under control! I took some pictures of the process but there’s still finish work to do. We decided to install new floors, mainly because after the walls in the kitchen came down the floors had no covering. Our first thought was to do laminate flooring, because with a 90 pound doberman the nails would destroy hardwood.  I really didn’t find any laminate that I liked. I researched the hardness of all the hardwood options but the hard woods that would work just didn’t have the color I needed to work with the red cabinets. I finally found a great option and that was bamboo. Bamboo  is very soft, but strand bamboo is different they take strips of bamboo and epoxy it all together under pressure and they end up with an incredibly hard surface. I was still worried it wouldn’t be hard enough so we went to see it. We got lucky, the salesman could relate to our problem, his girlfriend had a big dog and she installed the bamboo and hasn’t had any problems. That sold me and 1000 square feet of flooring was purchased. I don’t play around, when its right it’s right. We went home with a heavy truck and a lot of work ahead. The flooring was so heavy that Bruce had to make 2 more trips to get it all home. After acclimating the stuff for a week we started installing it. This stuff is so hard the power nailer struggled, even with the at psi set at 100. There was a lot of cutting and 4 days later we finished the main part of the house. We still need to do a bedroom and lots and lots of trim. We decided to move the bedroom door just 3 inches so that has delayed things a bit. The floors are beautiful every piece is unique  and pictures just don’t show the beauty. For now I’ll let you see the mess progress.
