Thats them there Yankees

Got a little weekend visit from the Connecticut connection. My folks are out shopping for the perfect retirement spot. They swung by for a visit to the farm. We had a nice time, the weather was perfect for visiting. Our family had a good laugh at the sight of the shoes they came to the farm in, bright white sneakers just aching to be introduced to our red clay land. The poor souls learned alot about red clay, bugs, chickens and doublewides. I think my dad left here able to see the lure of the wide open spaces and the beauty of land waiting to be molded. My mom, on the other hand saw us as a bunch of nuts, she’s ok with only visiting the wide open spaces. There’s no way she would ever live out in the middle of nowhere. We told our stories of chiggers and ants that leave you with scars all the while she sat listened and started to itch. I know this place isn’t for everyone, but she agrees it’s nice to visit. It’s not on the list of perfect retirement spots. Then again what is perfect?

Perfect is having family stop by, making us laugh, and sharing a moment in time.

Sounds like a nice visit. Did you drive them in from the big road in that lovely but reliable red cart? Just kidding, you know. I am with Iris, it is a great place to visit, and we hope to do so in the Spring (before all the bugs get too frisky. I think we will start casting about in our area for a condo, I think this every fall when the leaves seem to multiply. Tomorrow a professional is coming to give us a hand, the first time in 20 years we have to say “UNCLE”…..Ralph, Joyce and Dylan will come for Thanksgiving, my what a small group. We will think of all of you and imagin you went out hunting for a wild turkey, chopped it head off with an ax on a big tree stump, etc. By now and Hi to Hector and Iris, Ohio is a great place to retire, come visit us anytime. By now Love Mom.
