Yellowstone

The visit with Wayne, Quinn and Quade is now over. We had a great time. We went and saw Old Faithful in Yellowstone with them, the old geezer was impressive. It’s surrounded by a lot of small pools of boiling water, each pool has a name and they all have beautiful colors. The park has a walkway to hike on, so we were able to photograph the pools up close. I had no idea there were so many geysers that erupt even more impressively than old faithful at that location. I guess Old Faithful gets all the glory because it erupts more often. We got to see some of the others erupt on our walk.
On the way out we got lucky and a buffalo parked his butt nice and close to the parking lot so we got a little show. The park hands out pamphlets as you enter to warn you about the dangers of wild animals; they don’t want you to get to close. They even have pictures for the reading impaired people. The number of stupid people that can walk past a huge beast and not notice it amazes me. There was an old guy that the ranger was yelling at to move away from the buffalo but being old he only stopped moving and yelled back “what?”. He was 15 feet from a beast that could trample him. The ranger was explaining how they can move 35 miles an hour but he still didn’t get it. Maybe he was not only deaf but blind to. Of course the kids at that point would have loved a little carnage and action. The man moved on and so did we.

The next day was our last day with the Nevada Reids. We decided to get a little action in so we went whitewater rafting down the Snake River. It was lots of fun; we got into an 8 man raft, us, the guide and the 45 degree water. We hit some nice rapids and for 1 ½ hours we floated thru some scenic areas, no one fell out of the raft although it seemed close from time to time. Still no bear……
